Degree Final Project (TFG)

The Final Degree Project (TFG) of the GCED is governed by the regulations approved by the CAGCED, the FIB, the ETSETB and the FME. It is important that both the student and the director/tutor of a TFG read these regulations.

Professors interested in presenting a TFG offer from the GCED must fill in the following form (in catalan, you must log in with the UPC user). In the case of TFGs within the framework of an agreement with a company or institution (modality B), the processing will be done directly with the validation of the agreement. If the TFG is done in modality B but with a contract with a company (not an agreement), it is the person acting as tutor who must fill in the form.

In the case of TFG done on mobility (both in internship and in studies agreement) through the ETSETB, follow the steps indicated by the ETSETB here.

Procedure in modality A (TFG done and supervised at UPC):

    1. The student searches an offer in the Racó de la FIB (the student can also contact a professor to publish a TFG offer of interest).
    2. The student enrolls in one of the TFG proposals (the enrollment button only appears for those students who have passed the initial phase and 168 ECTS). The TFG registration period is:
  • To defend the TFG in the 2nd semester of the 2022-23 academic year, you must register during the 1st semester: from September 2022 to February 1, 2023.
  • To defend the TFG in the 1st semester of the 2023-24 academic year, you must register during the 2nd semester: from February 10 to July 13, 2023.
  • Once the professor has validated the application, you can proceed to register the TFG in the following registration period. For example, TFGs enrolled in December or January register during the February enrollment period. In the event that the TFG is not defended during the four-month period in which it has been registered, an additional registration can be made (*).

  • TFG development is done in three milestones (see regulations). The indicated dates below refer to the 2022/2023-Q1 call (resp. 2022/2023-Q2):

    • initial milestone: it must be submitted to the Racó within the first month from TFG registration. Template of optional use
    • follow-up milestone: it must be submitted by the deadline stipulated in the initial milestone (no later than November 30)
    • final milestone: the report is presented and the TFG is defended before a committee. According to the academic calendar, the defense dates will be between January 23 and 27, 2023 (resp. between June 26 and 30, 2023); the report must be uploaded to Racó by January 13 (resp. June 16) and must be validated by the director/tutor by January 16 (resp. June 19). Cover and latex template of optional use.

In each of these three steps, the student must put the corresponding documentation in the Racó and the director/tutor must validate it.

  • The Academic Commission of the GCED (CAGCED) will appoint committees to assess the TFGs of the current semester, and will propose dates for the defenses between January 23 and 27 (resp. between June 26 and 30).

  • Procedure in modality B (done in an internship):

The student will find a professor to act as the TFG tutor and process the agreement (in the case of TFG with a company contract, no agreement is required, see the next section).

The agreement is processed sufficiently in advance so that it is ready for registration: the deadlines are those indicated in point 2 above

The monitoring of the TFG, once registered, is done from the Racó, as indicated in points 4 and 5 above.

Procedure in modality B without internship agreement (done under a job contract):

The student will look for a professor to be the tutor of the TFG. The tutor will fill in the form and add the  TFG offer at Racó.

The student will provide the contract with the company and a consent is signed by the company.
Steps form modality A are followed.

Procedure in modality C: (done in mobility, study stay)

The student must follow the steps described according to the corresponding center (FIB, ETSETB, FME).

The students who do the TFG in modality C do not have to repeat the defense at UPC, but they do have to upload the report to the Racó at the end of the mobility stay. If the defense is not done at destination, the student must notify cap.estudis.gced@upc.edu and the CAGCED may require that the defense is done at UPC (the defense can be done online) .

Procedure in modality D: (done in mobility, internship)

Once the mobility has been assigned, the internship tutor (UPC professor) enters the offer at Racó. Steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 described above are followed. Defenses in this case can be done online if the student is still on mobility. It must be taken into account that the defense date must be close to the end date of the stay.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(*) If the TFG defense is not done in the semester in which the student has enrolled, he/she can choose whether wants to do an additional enrollment in the following semester or an ordinary enrollment later on. For the additional registration, only an administrative fee must be paid, on the other hand, the ordinary registration implies paying the full fee (with the corresponding surcharge for repetition). With the additional registration, the defense of the TFG can be done until the April 2023 term if the registration has been formalized in the first quarter of the academic year (2022/2023-Q1), or until the October term of 2023 if the registration has been formalized in the second quarter of the academic year (2022/2023-Q2).
