Optional courses

GCED students can choose as optional subjects subjects from the degrees taught at the FIB, the ETSETB, and the FME (prior validation of the head of studies) and following the enrollment procedure described in the section optional registration (provided there are places available). The abbreviations below correspond to: degree in Mathematics (GM), degree in Statistics (GE), degree in Computer Engineering (GEI), degree in Physical Engineering (GEF), degree in Telecommunication Technologies and Services Engineering (GRETST) and Degree in Electronic Engineering (GEE).

During the degree, 36 ECTS must be taken in optional subjects (during the 4th year). Courses from the list below can be taken (for other subjects contact the head of studies), they can also be taken during mobility or up to 12 ECTS of curricular practices in a company can be validated.

In the list below, optional courses of interest for the Data Science and Engineering degree are suggested separately in different areas. You can check the timetables at:

UPDATE: You can also get 2 or 3 optional credits by following seminars in the semester change periods (see below Data Science applied to finance, Data Science and blockchain, Machine learning for satellite imagery) or by taking 2 MESIO Summer School courses.

 (*) Places are very limited because they are compulsory subjects for other degrees. If there is no place during the pre-registration and enrollment processes, you can request a change of enrollment (by enrolling in another subject beforehand in case there is no place).

On the other hand, you can also apply for a place at cap.estudis.gced@upc.edu if you want to study one of the following subjects (which will not appear in the pre-registration):
